WHAT INSPIRED ME TO WRITE CHILDREN'S BOOKS, DAY 5

WHAT INSPIRED ME TO WRITE CHILDREN'S BOOKS, DAY 5

Just like I found myself in a position where I felt like I didn’t know God even though I had been in church all my life, maybe you can relate to that. Knowing God and knowing about God are two entirely different things. Knowing God is having a personal relationship with Him. Knowing about God is having some knowledge about Him with no intimacy.

For example, most of us may know about Queen Elizabeth (from a distance) but we don’t know her (no relationship). It’s good to start out with knowing about God but it shouldn’t end there because God desires a personal relationship with us.

I pray the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 encourages you today as it did for me. In verse 3 of Luke 19 (NIV), it says Zacchaeus “wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.”

Clearly, Zacchaeus heard about Jesus and got curious to see Him. He could have easily used his height as an excuse to stop himself from trying even though the desire to see Jesus was burning strongly on his heart. Instead, he prioritized Jesus and sought to find a solution at all costs.

Jesus saw Zaccheus’ heart and that was enough for Him to gladly walk up and introduce Himself to him. Jesus then invited Himself to Zacchaeus’ home and blessed him and his household. Their lives were never the same again.

Being depressed like I was or short like Zacchaeus are not pleasant situations to make you want to see Jesus. However, it was in those exact circumstances that God used to stir in our hearts a desire to know Him. Perhaps, we were both at a point where we didn’t want any more secondhand information from others describing how Jesus looks like to us. We wanted to see Him for ourselves.

I hope my story have encouraged you and stirred in you a hunger and thirst to want to know Jesus for yourself. I promise you that when you set out to personally seek to know Him, He will run to meet you and make you find Him in the most beautiful unique way that makes sense to you and your family.

Yours may not necessarily be “Myself” questions or one on one Bible sessions with your children like He showed me. Who knows what He may whisper into your ears. He is full of surprises and wonder because He wants to be known by you. And He wants your children to know Him.
